This is an alphabetical listing of property owned or occupied in the First Assessment and Sixth Division of York County, Pennsylvania.

The Great Law, or, The Body of laws of ye province of Pennsilvania territorys thereunto belonging past at an assembly at Chester als Upland the seaventh day of ye 10th month.

The two volumes consist of a daybook and ledger. The first volume, a daybook, is a chronological record of sales, with names of purchasers.

Six editorial corrections to Heckewelder, "Account of the history, manners, and customs of the Indian nations, who once inhabited Pennsylvania and the neighboring states, Transactions of the Historical and Literary Committee of the APS (1819) 1: 1-348; with page references, "in case a new Edition ever is made. Concerns religion, warfare, marriage and family life, childbirth, swimming, and fears. Never printed. Prepared for John Vaughan, but should be compared with Heckewelder's suggestions for revision in his correspondence with Du Ponceau.

This is an undated copy of the deed of incorporation issued in 1742 by King George II and witnessed by George Thomas, Governor of Pennsylvania.

Numbered "11", this item contains notes on lands owned and sold; notes on leases of Philadelphia houses; accounts with Daphne Peterson ("a free black woman"), Mary Spence ("of Dunfermline, Scotland"), and Baynard Hall; a list of books lent; a list of those receiving copies of Rush's publications, 1805-1806 (among whom was Thomas Jefferson); and an "account of property belonging to the estate."

Notebook with memorandum book, Fort Augusta, 1757, and 1764-1771. Reference is made to Edward Shippen, Jr. First section from 1757 includes 6 pages of (apparently) Susquehannock language terms, then 1 page each of Tuscarora and Mohawk numerals; all copied in Indian vocabularies (Mss.497.In2). Followed by memorandum book carrying list of obligations, November 1764 - May 4, 1771.

This volume was made at Wilmington, Delaware, for determining the longitude, from 1 July-14 October. It records the position of selected stars and planets. Contains also: Note regarding his astronomical clock, and entries relative to his work in continuing the Mason & Dixon's line.

Copies by Mrs. Deborah Norris Logan of letters from Logan, while president of the Council, to the Proprietors of Pennsylvania, the Duke of Newcastle, and Ferdinand John Paris, on province business. The letters relate to the choice of Logan's successor, his retirement, crown-proprietor relations, and the Pennsylvania-Maryland boundary.

This volume contains copies of records of early settlements on the Delaware River in English archives (1664-1682), and Dutch archives (1630-1656), copied from documents in the office of the Secretary of State at Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
